James finished his notes and studying and was going to return the book to Lily, but she’d disappeared, was she afraid of his reaction to the letter? James could only speculate.

He began to wonder if Lily would mind going to Hogsmeade with him tomorrow… And lucky for him, tomorrow was Friday the 13th, a very lucky day in the Wizarding World. Magic was every where on Friday the 13th, which is probably why Muggles were so afraid of it.

James gathered up his books and got ready to go to his next class; he ran up to his dorm and dropped of his ruined Herbology book, and Lily’s. He was going to be late so he just left them on Remus’ bed who was nearest the door and ran out to make it on time to Potions. <Sorry Remus, our stuff is going to be mixed together….> James thought as he noted to himself that Remus’ books had been on the bed as well…

On his way down from the boys’ dormitory he ran into a panting Sirius. “Where you going Padfoot?” James asked.

“I forgot my Potions book, and so did Moony so I told him I’d get it for him while I was getting my own…  And it was just the full moon and I didn’t want him to have to run up here if I was already going myself.” Sirius told him.

“Oh, well look out my stuff is on his bed too. I hope it doesn’t make you late.” James said grimacing at the mess he’d made all over Remus’ bed.

“Right.”

“Gooooood Luck!” James called running on after with one last wink at Sirius.

Sirius waved and ran into the dorm and looked at the mess on Remus’ bed and began searching through the stuff. Books were everywhere, parchment mingling together.

Nothing struck him as odd until he saw a neatly written letter. He couldn’t help himself—he picked it up…

~*Dearest,

There are things in life that are inevitable; I am powerless to control them. The Sun will rise and set, the tide will come in and go out, the seasons will change, the birds will fly south for the winter and return in the spring, and the caterpillar will transform itself into a gorgeous butterfly. Somehow, I feel reassured by this because many other things in life are so transient - so momentary.

Love, from the moment we met, I knew that our friendship would develop into something lasting and precious, just as I am sure that the caterpillar will one day become a gorgeous butterfly.

Dearest, I believe that our love is blessed by God. It is a union of two spirits destined for everlasting happiness. Thus, you have truly become the star of my life which brings me light in this dark world and warmth when I need it. You offer me the promise of renewal, the joy of living, the peace of mind that comes from sharing and caring, and that shoulder to lean on in times of stress. You are my Swallow from Capistrano - my precious butterfly, and I will cherish you and love you forever.

-Love, me*~

“Merlin! James is in love with me…  He always had a way with words—but wow!” Sirius thought about it for a moment. “I didn’t even know he was gay! He could have told me when I told him! “ Sirius started thinking to himself about it, since he didn’t want anyone to hear his thoughts.

If James loves me… Ugh… It’s too weird, I’ve always thought of him as a brother—now *Remus*… That’s another story entirely. Sirius smiled to himself and picked up his and Remus’ books they looked identical and he shrugged and shoved the letter in one of them carelessly and ran off to class… I'm the star of his life...

(A/N Uh oh… Never shove love letters in Potions and/or Herbology books)

!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!|!

Remus looked worriedly at the clock, if Sirius didn’t get here soon, he’d be in trouble with Professor Rodriguez. Suddenly Sirius flew into the room, almost falling down in his rush to get there. He plopped in a seat between Remus and James. He gave James a small grin and then gave Remus a wide one.

Remus felt his heart skip a beat at it and grinned back. “Hey Padfoot, got my book? I hope it wasn’t too much trouble.”

”No trouble at all, err…” Sirius looked between the two Potions books and gave him one with a shrug. “There.”

Professor Rodriguez came in and everyone got quiet and took notes from the books like instructed…

After class was over, they headed to lunch, they’d been assigned an essay, but since they’d gotten time in class to do it, and Remus had a specialty in potions, he was able to finish already, he had kept his essay in his book though, so hopefully he wouldn’t forget his book next class period.

As they were eating lunch he watched as James flirted outrageously with Lily Evans, who didn’t seem to know what to think and how Sirius stared at James with a calculating look… Did Sirius like James? It would make sense, but poor Sirius, because James was very much a straight man.

He watched as Lily dealt with James’ flirting… Apparently James fancied her and she had no clue why or how it happened and was trying to be polite. She kept blushing and smiling at him. Maybe there was hope for the two. After all, they had a lot in common, but if it didn’t work out—James and Lily were both chasers on the Quidditch Team and that could be bad.

Remus grinned and turned to Peter, “How’s your potion essay going?” (A/N I know… Bad Sierra… She put Peter in it! And of all terrible things... Put him in the plot!)

“Just…. Terrible. I’m not even half way!”

“Want to borrow mine and copy some from it?” Remus offered, his unfortunate friend.

“Could I? That would be great.”  Peter said, looking relieved.

“Hold on, I’ll get it, its in my book—just take the whole book actually, it’s easier.” Remus said as he gave Peter his book.

“Thanks Moony!” Peter exclaimed, as he put Remus’ book in his own. “What class is next?”

“Transfiguration.” Remus answered automatically.

“Cool, Professor McGonagall is busy with Professor Sinistra; I’ll have time to work on it.” Peter said happily as he stood up to leave, taking the rest of his sandwich with him.

“See you then Pete.” Remus said waving as his blonde friend left.

Peter opened Remus' book found a neatly written letter, with loopy writing. It didn't exactly look like Remus' but, it seemed like it, Remus wouldn't mind if he read it...

"Oh crap!" Peter squeaked. Peter couldn't believe Remus liked him... But then again, he'd always thought Remus was gay like Sirius was. He and Remus were close too, but it seemed unreal that Remus would like him.

I'm just going to have to act like I don't like him that way so he'll get the picture, but hopefully, he won't get hurt. Then I'd feel really bad. Peter thought. It was a shame it was Remus who liked him, instead of Lily Evans, she was hot!

Suddenly the other three Marauders came in, and Peter folded the letter up and dropped it under his seat. Hiding the evidence.

After classes, Minerva McGonagall was cleaning up the damage her fifth year students had made. (A/N *Blushes* I forgot what year they were in, I don't think I mentioned it before so... It's 5th now.) She found a lot of papers, but most were just nonsense love notes to each other, but one of them, really stood out to her eyes.

She had, in fact found the love letter circling around the fifth years.

She set it on her desk, thinking it was just too sweet to throw away. Some girl or boy had someone who really loved them, enough to send a love letter talking about butterflies to them anyway.

Minerva carelessly set  the letter on top of her papers to grade. She had no more classes that day, so she picked them all up and carried them towards her quarters where she slept.

It was on her way to her quarters that she ran into Professor Steven Sinistra. Oh Minerva always had a thing for the man, even if he was about 5 years older then her. She wasn't some silly school girl anymore, and age didn't matter. Sometimes she had the feeling he liked her too.

"Hello Steven." Minerva said, holding the parchment to her side as she waved to him, giving him her best smile-- something students never saw.

"Good afternoon Minerva, were classes okay for you?" He inquired.

"Oh the Marauders were a bit difficult to handle, but other then that, quite alright." She said with a nod. "Well, I better be going, see you later Steven."

"Goodbye Minerva." He said, and watched her swish off, she dropped a piece of parchment, and Steven quickly went to pick it up, he was about to call out to her that  she'd dropped it, when he began to read it. Maybe Minerva had purposely dropped it.

"Oh my! YES!" Professor Sinistra did a little jig in the hallway, only to be caught by several giggling first years. He had the dignity to blush before waltzing off back to the Astronomy Tower , whistling all the while "Heaven Must be Missing An Angel..."

Things can only get more complicated...

 ~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~!^~

By that time, several some ones had figured out 'their' letter was missing from their possession. Jimena Jenkins, was the first to find out it was missing.

"LILY! Have you seen my letter?" Jimena asked loudly as she entered the fifth year girls' dormitory.

"Um... No, what letter?" Lily asked uncertainly.

Jimena looked disappointed, "Well, where's the book I let you borrow-- or, where are all my notes?"

Lily cringed. "Err, sorry Jimena but I put them in my book and I gave my book to James..." Lily's voice trailed off.

"Damn! See you later Lils! Who knows what that letter's gone by now!" Jimena cried, and charged out of  the dorm to the common room, with Lily staring, confused after.

Jimena ran at top speed to the four Marauders who were just about to go to dinner. "James! I need to talk to you, right now." Jimena said, grabbing his arm and tugging him away from his friends.

"Yeah?" He asked, "What is it that has you man handling me?" James said as he rubbed his arm in pain.

"Oh sorry 'bout that." She said, not sounding all that sorry in the least bit, "Where'd you put Lily's book? Or at least the notes inside? She stole a few of mine and I need them..." Jimena's voice trailed off, she didn't exactly want to tell James Potter she and received a love letter and it had some how crazily gotten into his possession.

James was a bit distracted so he didn't catch the actual meaning of it, "Oh, notes--I put the book in my dorm."

"Could I just go in and get it?" Jimena asked hopefully.

"As long as you don't steal our underwear or go through all our stuff, sure." James said casually.

Jimena stared at him a moment, waiting for an explanation for what he'd said.

"Hey! It's happened before! I found my boxers in the possession of some second year girl I'd never even talked to for!" James said defensively.

"Whatever, I don't tell you about my underwear you don't tell me about yours." Jimena said wearily  and she went up to the boys' dorm.

A few choice words summed up how it looked to Jimena. Disgusting, Pig Sty, and Eww. The boys might have thought of it as fairly neat, but really the floor was covered in clothes! There was only one bed cleared off quite a bed, and Jimena assumed it was Remus'.

She decided to check there first, simply because of cleanliness and closeness.

Jimena found the book... But no letter. "Oh shit...I hope Raidon doesn't want me to keep it or something." Jimena said biting her lip as she continued to search over the mess of parchment and books.

Sirius Black was also searching for the letter, he knew exactly what he'd done with it. First he'd placed it in his book... Oh no. He'd given the book with the letter to Moony.

Sirius realized all of this at dinner, and asked Remus what he'd done with it.

"Oh the book..." Remus thought for a moment, "I gave it to Peter so he could copy my potions essay." As Remus said this Peter suddenly turned bright red and started choking on his food. Sirius slapped him hard on the back, and Peter looked thankful.

"So, Wormtail... What'd you do with the book ?" Sirius inquired.

"I left it in the dorm." Peter said, recalling going into the room of untidiness.

"Oh, okay." Sirius said. All right everything will be fine. I'll check the book, get the letter and everything will be groovy, Sirius thought.

After dinner Peter and Sirius headed up to the dorm.

"Where'd I put it?" Peter thought out loud as he searched around his bed, which was easily the messiest of all of them. Peter searched around for a few minutes. "Oh here it is." Peter tossed the book to Sirius.

Sirius immediately opened it and searched the pages.... No letter.

Sirius gulped loudly, and set the book up. "Hey Peter, where all did you have this book today?" Sirius questioned.

"Oh... Just here, Transfiguration... and Charms, but I only used it in the Transfiguration room."  Peter told him slowly.

"Thanks Peter,  see you then!"

"Wait!" Peter yelped, "I left something there in the Transfiguration room... Will you come with me-."

"That's where I was going, hurry along then." Sirius said, and grabbed the blonde by the arm and pulled him down the stairs. He had enough on his mind without worrying where that crazy letter had gotten off to...

Professor Sinistra had put the letter by one of the telescopes up in the Astronomy Tower. It was almost Midnight, and his Slytherin 7th years should be there soon.

It looked like it was going to be another night of listening to Lucius Malfoy mooning over Narcissa Wilkes. The young man had been in love with the blonde all seven years of school, and had yet to win her over. He'd tried everything, gloated about his money, bought her gifts, tried to use his charm and still succeeded in not getting her.

Tonight, however there was going to be a miracle for the young Malfoy.

The Slytherins started filing in and taking there places by their telescopes and went right to business. Sinistra gave a few  instructions and all was well until-

A loud squeal was emitted from Narcissa and two of her friends. Lucius Malfoy looked up so fast his telescope nearly tipped over, and in an odd moment of clumsiness he had to fix it. When the boy looked up  Narcissa was staring at him like he was the last piece of cake--with icing.

Lucius, unused to her looking at him like that, could only smile weakly. She was holding a letter in her hand, something Lucius had never seen before, but would forever be in debt to for the rest of his life.

Suddenly, Narcissa Wilkes threw her self at Lucius Malfoy and started snogging him like mad. Everyone around them cheered, and Lucius could only enjoy the moment, deciding he must be dreaming.

Professor Sinistra had enough heart and was in such a good mood as it was, that he let them snog for a little while, before breaking up the couple. He stood near to hear the explanation. I mean seven years... What did that boy do?

"Oh Lucius, I never knew! I thought you just wanted my body!" Narcissa told him.

Lucius, had the decency to look perturbed. "Of course that's not all I wanted you for!"

"Now, I know you have good reasons to date me, this is so wonderful!" Narcissa was grinning, but not nearly as brightly as Lucius was.

The Letter has struck again.
